The word Free can be defined as not under the control or power of another; able to act as one wishes' not or no longer confined to imprisonment.
To be free also means without cost or payment.
In the beginning of the time, we found that God created male and female. He made sure everything they needed was provided. They would want for nothing, because God was with them and God had given them everything. Every need they had, God supplied, emotional, physical, spiritual. Most importantly they had God up close and personal. Adam and Eve experienced a freedom that many of us long to have. Genesis Chapters 1-2
Freedom The Power to act, speak, or think as one wants without hinderance or restraint. The state of not being imprisoned or enslaved
So, what caused them to give up this Freedom and live a life of bondage and separation from God? "Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God made." (Genesis 3:1) The Serpent was ready, willing, and able to entertain this couple with a Lie. And after spending a little time with the deceiver, Eve, bought was he was selling. A Lie. She went from being free to being in bondage. The sad part is she brought her husband along for the Journey. (*Note, he went willing, because the Bible says He was not deceived, unlock his wife, Eve.)
When we look at the story, it is easy to judge and say how could Eve listen or even entertain the Serpent? She knew what God said. The that is highlighted in Genesis 3:, is the word "Cunning". Cunning means to have skill in achieving one's end by deceit or evasion. Someone who is crafty, artful, devious, and sly. Looking at it from that perspective, I would personally say, "no judgment Eve". I completely understand how that could happen. I understand because it has happened to me all my life. However, we will not give Eve a pass. Eve, knew the Truth.
This month, we want to find our way back to Truth, by looking into the lies we have believed. Uncovering these lies will be our Journey back to Truth. Can you as you are reading thinking of some lies that you have believed, and if your Honest they have become "Your" Truth? I can. It is that lie, that has be bound in so many areas of my life. My attitude, my health, my family...this list goes on and on.
This month, I am determined to expose those lies with the Truth of God's Word. So that I can live Free in a place of Freedom. No longer do I want to be Free in a place of Bondage. I invite you to join me.
