Reverse the shame with Trust

Today let's consider the fact that we have the ability, permission and power to change the course of direction we are on. To reverse mean to simply go the opposite direction. In regards to trust, what does that look you may ask? It looks like turning my thoughts into God's thoughts. My misunderstanding into God's understanding.

Trust is defined as a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. We must place a firm belief in our reliable, or faithful God, whose truth and ability and strength has been proven throughout our lives. Trust is one of the fundamental parts of Christian life. Our trust grows as we encounter God and meditate on His Word.

Now, that we defined what to do and how, let tackle the why? Here is where shame comes in. Shame is defined as a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior. Now if we are honest, most of us are still (no matter the age) carrying around shame. We want to move on, but it continues to rear it ugly head at the most inopportune times. Just when your name is called for the promotion, the shame of not being qualified comes up, and you act accordingly. It can come up with your self image. Just when you are beginning to feel better about yourself, something comes to remind you have how you are not as good as you think you are, and so you act accordingly. It can show up when you are make amazing connections with God, and the enemy comes in to remind of you your past.

This list can go on and on.

Today, God wants us to Trust Him. He is able! What is the process of trusting God, how do I begin to really move from trusting myself to trusting God. Through a relationship with God, an intimate relationship. You don't trust someone you are not familiar with. It's not enough for me to trust Him and you trust Him because I trust Him, you have to trust Him for yourself.

So, let's get this trust party started with some scriptures. It is my prayer that you/we take time to study the context of the scriptures along with memorizing the specific verses. What I meant is read the entire chapter.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Exodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still"

Joshua 21:45 "Not one of all the Lord's good promises to Israel failed" everyone was fulfilled."

Joshua 23:8 "But you are to hold fast to the Lord your God, as you have until now."

Psalms 37:4-5 "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; and trust in Him and He will do this:

Psalms 37: 23-24 "The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.

Psalms 118: 8 "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in Humans"

Isaiah 40:31
