Today, I thought we would begin a conversation about Hagar. As research, I discover that amid all that Hagar experiences the following were the most interesting... The first is Hagar, the woman who "speaks with God". Then the second thing that caught my attention she is attributed to giving God the name El Roi, The God who sees.
As we ponder on the thought of "reversing the shame" What does that really look like. I believe Hagar shows us...speaking to God. First of all, I would say that sometimes our circumstances are nothing short of a set-up. The worst thing that has ever happened to me somehow ended up being the best thing. Maybe that's why God allowed Paul to write Romans 8:28
So today, I encourage you to take another look at the thing that you considered to be shameful, or that put you in a place of shame. I know it may be hard to look at because even now you are dealing with the pain. However, this month we are in "reverse" we are going back to grow forward. Maybe like Hagar, it caused you to see God, and understand that He sees you. Taking it a step further, now you have a name for God that gives you a personal connection to Him.
Today is the day God wants to free you. He wants to free you from your old way of thinking not just about yourself, but He wants to free you from what happened to you. It will take some time, but you are so Worth it. Let's begin the journey of seeing ourselves through the eyes of God, after El Roi, The God Who Sees!
