Face-Time Psalms 81"Listen"

This Psalms is so so good! It starts out as thanksgiving, then it moves into "admonition" from the Lord. That word "admonition" jumped out to me! The admonition is a mild, kind earnest way of reproofing. it is advice with a hint of scolding, a warning not to do something. Let's listen...

vs 1 "Sing aloud to God our strength; Make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob.

vs 2 "Raise a song and strike the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the lute.

God's response

vs 6 "I removed his shoulder from the burden; His hands were freed the baskets".

vs 7 "You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder..."

God says listen

vs 8 "Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you! O Israel, if you will listen to Me!"

vs 9 "there shall be no foreign god among you; Noo shall you worship any foreign god."

vs 10 "I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt: open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

Today, I hear God saying, Listen, I am all you need. Keep me as Your God, there is no need to depend on any other god. "Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn My hand against their adversaries."

Prayer is not just talking to God, but listening to Him. He speaks through His word. Get your face time in today. What "gods" have you put in front of, in place of, or equal to God?
