Face-Time Psalms 61

Oh my! The word of the century "Overwhelmed" how often does this feeling overtake me! As a wife and mom of 7 children, a business owner, and a homemaker. OMG!!! I think I spent the last 23 years feeling overwhelmed. But why is that...? Well, I found the perfect definition of "giving too much to one thing." This definition fits me perfectly.

How about you? When do you feel overwhelmed? Here is another relatable definition, "buried or drowning beneath a huge mass." Yes!!! I certainly can connect with that one as well.

Today, in our Psalms, David for whom this Psalms is attributed, prayers this prayer. Can you imagine the things he could have been drowning in? One of the commentaries, states this could have been written at the beginning of his Kingship. You know David, the one anointed to be King while tending sheep. David who was King, on the run from his Mentor. David, whose family was not Kingdom ready... I could go on and on. Just imagine.

Let's Listen a little...

David's Prayer

vs 1 "Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer".

vs 2 "When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I".

Answered prayer

vs 5 "For you, O God, have heard my vows;"

vs 6 "You will prolong the King's life, His years."

David's response

"vs 8 "I will sing praise to Your Name forever..."

What a great day to bring our feelings of being overwhelmed to our Father. Davids's response was impeccable. Be encouraging help is awaiting you when you pray!
