Face-Time Proverbs 9 "Wisdom is prepared for you"

Question of the day? Are you teachable? What does that even mean? If you are teachable, you are able to learn and be taught. Looking at the words, that's pretty reasonable. So, are you teachable? Am I teachable? Before we say yes, think about it. Being teachable would require me to have an open space for two things humble heart that is ok with being vulnerable. In addition to a humble heart, I need a surrendered heart that is ready for change.

Sometimes, I think I know best for me. Or I only trust me to know best for me. If I am honest, that hinders me from being teachable. I am not always open to remove my thoughts long enough to entertain someone else's knowledge and wisdom. There are a million reasons why. However, until I first have an honest conversation with myself, I will sit at the table of wisdom and get up and remain very foolish.

We have learned in the first book of Proverbs "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction" Proverbs 1:7

Today's Proverb is about being teachable so that we can learn what wisdom is. Yesterday, in Proverbs chapter 8, we read a lot about the character of wisdom and what she has to offer, where she resides, and even her origin. Today, we see that wisdom has made room for us at the table. She is prepared for us to sit and learn. Let's take a peek into these scriptures...

vs 1 "Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars;

vs 2 "She has slaughtered her meat, she has mixed her wine, She has also furnished her table"

vs 3 "She has sent out her maidens, She cries out from the highest places of the city,

vs 4 "She cries out from the highest places of the city, whoever is simple, let him turn in here!"

This is such a God characteristic! He will do whatever it takes to draw us in. That's love!!! However the "coming in" is a choice you and I must make.

So the opposite of wisdom is Folly. Once again, we see the "Foolish Woman" show up. Just as wisdom is calling, so is she.

vs 13 "A foolish woman is clamorous; She is simple and knows nothing.

vs 16 "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.";

There are always two roads. Get your face time in today. Get a good understand of what it means to be wise and foolish in the sight of God.
